- Not sure where she was born. This is what she entered in the census:
Birth Sep 9 1862: Between Middels (Middels-Oosterlog) and Wittmund, south of Stedesdorf and Dunum. Another report states that she came from Elsfleth, which is ~40 miles South-East of Wittmund towards Bremen.
She came to the USA via:
Departure: Bremerhaven, Germany and Southampton, England
Three dates for her arrival: 1878, 1882 and arrival New York 31 Mar 1884.

On her marriage certificate it says Johanna Doode

Doede Frerichs 1842-1920 married Johanna Dood on 10/23/82. He came from Ostfriesland in 1862. His parents were Alger Frerichs and Bena Schmidt [she was a 2nd wife and not my relative].
Johanna came from Elsfleth, the daughter of Luebbe and Anna Fonke Dood. She emigrated in 1881 and the next year they married and lived all their lives in Danforth, IL on a farm. 1862/1940.
She was 20 yrs. younger than he, and she and her sister must have come to America to find a husband.
