• Notes

  One source says that he died in Vronen in a battle agains the West Frisians on 1 May 1114. Father of Dodo van Egmond; Allard, Heer van Egmond and Werenbout van Egmond, Stamvader heren van Utenhage Brother of Steven van Egmond, 5e abt van Egmond Beerwout continued the work of his father Beerwout I of Egmont by building the first Donjon at the end of the Hoeven. He may therefore be called the first resident of the castle. Beerwout was in conflict with the neighboring abbey on payment methods several times. In order to break the dispute, Beerwout himself was appointed steward of the abbey. He had another son, called Dodo (1128-1200).
