      Hij erfde van zijn vader de goederen van Egmond en van zijn moeder IJsselstein en aldus werd hij heer van Egmond en IJsselstein.
      Raadsheer van Albrecht van Beieren van 1372 en aanhanger der Kabeljauwen. Hij verwierf op 11 aug. 1398 de heerlijkheden van Ameland en Het Bilt in leen (van Mieris: Charterboek III, pag.686).
      Hij voerde in 1400 het bevel over de Hollandse troepen die naar Friesland togen, doch stond bij de Hoekse graaf Willem VI niet in de gunst.
      Hij is begraven in het door hem gestichtte klooster te IJsselstein. Zie ook Karel de Grote reeks 56.
