      Hij trouwde, ongeveer 23 jaar oud, op zondag 11 december 1735 in Wamel met Hendrina Bor, dochter van Cornelis Huijbertsen Bor en Neeltje van Westrhenen. Zij is gedoopt op zondag 26 januari 1716 in Ochten. Hendrina is overleden omstreeks 1742 in Wamel, ongeveer 26 jaar oud.
      Hij trouwde daarna met Grietje van de Sand, geboren in Avezaath in 1716.

      Question: Why did he name his first-born son Dirk?
      Meerten's own father's name was Tijs.
