• Notes

  His birth place is mentioned as Bersden. There is a historic small town of Bearsden 6 miles North of Glasgow, already mentioned as a pottery export place in Roman times. In the 17th century it had some very nice large mansions for the patrician families. The Continental Europeans called it Bersden (without an a).
