Catholic.

His second wife, Johanna Vijgh, was the daughter of Arent Vijgh, a Reformed minister, and she was baptised in the Reformed Church of Zoelen and became a member there. After Johanna's death, Johan Adriaen married Elisabeth van Utrecht in the Reformed church of Altforst, and a mere 5 months after their marriage, the Dominican priest Ignatius Verdusan baptised their son Johannes (also known as Jean Louis). Johan Adriaen must have managed to convince Elisabeth to have their son baptised by a Catholic priest, because like Johanna, she was a member of the Reformed church.
Died in Kasteel Durendaal, near Oisterwijk, North Brabant.
Castle does not exist anymore.

2868 Louis the Pious (778-840)
Also called the Fair, and the Debonaire, was the King of Aquitaine from 781, when he was only 3 years old. He was also King of the Franks and co-Emperor (as Louis I) with his father, Charlemagne, from 813. As the only surviving adult son of Charlemagne and Hildegard, he became the sole ruler of the Franks after his father's death in 814, a position which he held until his death.

During his reign in Aquitaine, Louis was charged with the defence ofthe Empire's southwestern frontier. He conquered Barcelona from the Muslims in 801 and asserted Frankish authority over Pamplona and the Basques south of the Pyrenees in 812. As emperor he included his adult sons (by his first wife Ermengarde of Hesbaye): Lothair, Pepin, and Louis, in the government and sought to establish a suitable division of the realm among them. In the 830s his empire was torn by civil war between his sons, only exacerbated by Louis's attempts to include his son Charles (by his second wife Judith) in the succession plans. Though his reign ended on a high note, with order largely restored to his empire, it was followed by three years of civil war.

Marriage certificate no. 31/1876/city
Today, july 5, 1876 appeared before me Willem Barend Mellink, registrar on the island of Curaçao in the house no. 352, Overzijde (Otrobanda C.) to get married
Carel Robert Alexander van Osenbruggen, 30 years old, officer with the royal dutch navy, now detached here, born in The Hague in Zuid Nederland, son of Carel van Osenbruggen, docter in philology, retired teacher of the Haagse Burgerschool (the public school - C.) in The Hague, residing there and Anne Burns Marshall, deceased, married couple to the one side and
Louisa Catharina Scholtz, 31 years old, no occupation, born and living on this island, daughter of Frederik Anton Scholtz, pharmacist, living here and Maria Augusta Möller, deceased, married couple on the other side

The two announcements for this marriage have taken place here without interference on june 11 and 18, according to the deputy registrar in the city district and the certificate was made up, while the engaged have handed over their birth certificates and a certificate in which Theodorus de Veer, doctor physician declares that the bride is suffering from nervous heartbeats, therefore it is appropriate that the bride should marry in her home.

After I have asked the couple if they are willing to accept each other as man and wife and do all that is required by law from a married couple, and they have answered yes I have declared them man and wife in the presence of
Anton Willem Abrahamsz, 41 years old, merchant; Jacobus Johannes van den Berge, 43 years old, Officer and administrator with the royal dutch navy, meester (academic title) Johannes Petrus Smeele, 44 years old, member of the colonial council, president of the court of justice in this colony and Joseph Möller, 27 years old, government official, all living here, the first three acquaintances of the couple and the last cousin of the bride.
And this document was ….. and signed by the couple, the witnesses and the registrar.

The fact that both marriages took place at home, had nothing to do with a sickness of the brides (perhaps one or the other of the many brides of the period who got married at home was pregnant). At the time it was very fashionable not to appear at city hall, it gave some status to get married at home, therefore the couples did not mind to pay additionally for the favour of the registrar, but they also needed a certificate by a doctor, which was no problem if you had the money to pay for it.

2898 Maria of Jülich-Berg (3 August 1491 - 29 August 1543) was born in Jülich, the daughter of Wilhelm IV, Duke of Jülich-Berg and Sibylle of Brandenburg.

Maria came from the line of German princesses that stretched back to Sybille of Brandenberg, Sophia of Saxony, and Adelaide of Teck.

Maria became heiress to her father's estates of Jülich, Berg and Ravensberg after his death in 1511. In her marriage to John III, Duke of Cleves in 1509, Maria's estates and titles were eventually merged with the Duchy of Cleves. John, who inherited the Duchy of Cleves-Mark in 1521, then became the first ruler of the United Duchies of Jülich-Cleves-Berg, which would exist until 1666.

She married John III, Duke of Cleves in 1509, by whom she had three daughters and a son. Sybille (1512-1554), William, Duke of Jülich-Cleves-Berg (Wilhelm) (1516-1592), Amalia (1517-1586), and Anne (1515-1557) who was Queen consort of England from 6 January 1540 to 9 July 1540 to King Henry VIII.

Maria was a strict, traditional Catholic and not a proponent of educating princesses and noble women, which by this point was the norm for the English nobility and gentry. In The Wives of Henry VIII, Antonia Fraser suggests that, following their marriage, one reason Henry VIII disliked her daughter Anne so much was that, unlike his first two wives and many of the court ladies around him, Anne did not possess educational and musical accomplishments and was ill-equipped to function in the contentious English court. Duchess Maria herself appears not to have favored sending her daughter to England. She wrote in a later correspondence she loved her daughter so much that she was 'loath to suffer her to depart her'.
of Jülich-Berg, Maria (I1726)

2899 Maria van Arkel (c. 1385 \endash 19 July 1415) was the only daughter and heiress of Lord John V of Arkel and Joanna of Jülich. She inherited the title to Gelderland from her maternal uncle, Duke Reginald IV, and herson became Arnold, Duke of Gelderland. She was the paternal grandmother of Mary of Guelders, who became Queen of Scots.

Hertogin van Gelre en Gravin van Zutphen.
